Adobe 于 2020 年正式停止对 Flash 的支持之后，出于怀旧等各种理由，依然有不少使用者对这个过时、存在诸多漏洞的 Flash 感兴趣，之后也出现了 Gnash 和 Lightspark 等开源方案。开发者近日推出了名为 Ruffle 的开源软件，利用 Rust语言来安全地模拟对 Flash 的支持。

Ruffle 是一个用 Rust 编写的 Flash Player 模拟器，可以在所有主要系统上运行，并且通过 WebAssembly 核心也可以在浏览器中运行。由于 Rust 的内存安全保证，他们认为这是 Flash 的安全实现。Ruffle 于上周公布了第一份进度报告，可以运行数十款基于 ActionScript 2 的游戏，此外也开始新增对 ActionScript 3 的改进，并最佳化手机的显示效果。
